REMINDER: Felsted Parish Council Open Morning Tomorrow
The Parish Council is holding an OPEN MORNING on Saturday 1 June from 10 – 1pm in Felsted Memorial Hall, Braintree Road, Felsted.
Please take this opportunity to drop in and have an informal chat with your new Parish Councillors over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
We welcome feedback both good and not so good, along with ideas for future projects.
We hope that you can join us.
Maintaining our footpaths: the Felsted Parish Paths Partnership (P3) group
Our Parish is crisscrossed by miles of footpaths. Whilst the County Council is responsible for their upkeep, it often comes down to the willingness of local residents to maintain vital access.
As part of a new initiative, a Parish Paths Partnership (P3) group, led by Diane Shepherd and under the supervision of Uttlesford Ramblers P3, recently replaced 3 waymarks.
This picture shows the team working on footpath 79. Next week they will move on to footpath 110.
There are so many ways in which we rely on the goodwill and hard work of volunteers to keep our Parish clean, enjoyable and accessible to all.
We thank all of you for your hard work.

Thursday 2nd May District Council elections
We believe that some people have misunderstood our previous message regarding the Parish Council elections and the need for a new Parish Councillor.
For the avoidance of any doubt, the District Council elections are taking place tomorrow, 2nd May as scheduled.
We apologise for any confusion we have caused anyone and would encourage you to use your vote in the District Council election tomorrow.
Felsted Parish Council vacancy
This Thursday, 2nd May will see the election of Parish and District Councils.
Unfortunately, with only 10 applicants for 11 positions, we have not received sufficient interest to trigger a Parish Council election in Felsted.
It of course also means that we have a vacancy on the Parish Council.
If you are interested and would like more details please contact our Clerk for details.

Station Road closure for 6 nights from today
Please see the following announcement from the Essex Streetworks Team:
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
Temporary Traffic Regulation Order of Station Road, Felsted.
Please click on the following link https://roadworks.org?tm=113043654 to find details of the closure of Station Road, due to commence on 24th April 2019 for 6 nights.
The closure point is at the entrance to the village and will result in a diversion via Stebbing Road.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Essex County Council undertakes patching works for surfacing dressing.
Village Litter pick a success
The village litter pick held last Saturday was yet again a massive success.
It is sad that we need our volunteers, led by our Parish Clerk, Diane, to give their time to clear up the rubbish others decide to discard around our village.
However, need them we do. In just a few hours they collected 24 bags of rubbish plus a door, an 8′ long kitchen plinth and assorted pieces of broken car body panels.
Uttlesford District Council has also purchased 5 new vehicles to support two dedicated litter picking teams, who will operate throughout the District where there are trouble spots.
If you see people dumping litter, or fly tipping, please let us know, with as many details as it is safe to take. It is wrong that we should need volunteers to pick up rubbish, and even worse that our Council Tax should be needed to buy extra vehicles to clean up our villages after people who simply don’t care.

Green waste collection
We have once again arranged for a weekly Green Waste collection service at Bannister Green.
The service will start on Sunday 7 April and run until 24 November 2019 (inclusive).
We have maintained the same day/time as last year, namely every Sunday between 9-10am.

Village litter pick – help keep Felsted tidy and healthy
We are holding our next little pick on Saturday 23rd March.
If you can come along and spend a little time helping keep our Parish clean, then meet in the Playing Field Car Park (off Jollyboys Lane North – CM6 3DU) anytime between 10am and 2pm.
You can choose which area you ‘pick’ and high viz vests will be provided, along with grabbers and refuse bags.
Any queries please ring Diane Smith (Clerk) on 01371 823071.
We continue to thank those who give their time to help in our regular litter picks. It really does make a difference. So, if you have been thinking about an odd hour you could spare to help the community, please come along.
Even if you can’t make the day, or perhaps you are a dog walker, please think about picking up that odd bit of litter you see, rather than walking past it, as every bit will help.
