Felsted Neighbourhood Plan Consultation
The Felsted Neighbourhood Plan Group (FNPG) has continued to work hard on our behalf to complete the Neighbourhood Plan.
The Plan has now been submitted under Regulation 16 to Uttlesford District Council. This triggers a six week formal consultation period prior to the plan being examined by an independent examiner and then moving on to referendum.
The Plan is important to us, not only to guide the way in which we want our Parish to develop in coming years, but also in our fight against the tide of inappropriate development proposals we are seeing. Many of these developments use the lack of a UDC 5 year housing supply as their justification for inappropriate developments. However, with an approved Neighbourhood Plan, Felsted will only need a 3 year supply to negate this argument, which exists.
The six week formal consultation period will run from Wednesday 12 June 2019 and close on Wednesday 24 July 2019 at 5:00 pm.
You can view the Felsted Neighbourhood Plan and associated documents via UDC’s website or hard copies of the documents are available at the Councils main offices in Saffron Walden.
In order for your representation to be taken into account at the Neighbourhood Plan examination and keep you informed of the future progress of the Neighbourhood Plan your contact details are needed.
Comments must be made in writing, the response form can be used to make representations or you can email comments to ku.vog.drofselttu@ycilopgninnalp or by post to:

Temporary Changes to Bus Service 133

During this time we will be unable to serve Gransmore Green, Watch House Green, Felsted church and Oakwood Park.
Buses will divert via the B1256 re-joining the route at Little Dunmow.

REMINDER: Felsted Parish Council Open Morning Tomorrow
The Parish Council is holding an OPEN MORNING on Saturday 1 June from 10 – 1pm in Felsted Memorial Hall, Braintree Road, Felsted.
Please take this opportunity to drop in and have an informal chat with your new Parish Councillors over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
We welcome feedback both good and not so good, along with ideas for future projects.
We hope that you can join us.
Maintaining our footpaths: the Felsted Parish Paths Partnership (P3) group
Our Parish is crisscrossed by miles of footpaths. Whilst the County Council is responsible for their upkeep, it often comes down to the willingness of local residents to maintain vital access.
As part of a new initiative, a Parish Paths Partnership (P3) group, led by Diane Shepherd and under the supervision of Uttlesford Ramblers P3, recently replaced 3 waymarks.
This picture shows the team working on footpath 79. Next week they will move on to footpath 110.
There are so many ways in which we rely on the goodwill and hard work of volunteers to keep our Parish clean, enjoyable and accessible to all.
We thank all of you for your hard work.

Thursday 2nd May District Council elections
We believe that some people have misunderstood our previous message regarding the Parish Council elections and the need for a new Parish Councillor.
For the avoidance of any doubt, the District Council elections are taking place tomorrow, 2nd May as scheduled.
We apologise for any confusion we have caused anyone and would encourage you to use your vote in the District Council election tomorrow.
Felsted Parish Council vacancy
This Thursday, 2nd May will see the election of Parish and District Councils.
Unfortunately, with only 10 applicants for 11 positions, we have not received sufficient interest to trigger a Parish Council election in Felsted.
It of course also means that we have a vacancy on the Parish Council.
If you are interested and would like more details please contact our Clerk for details.

Station Road closure for 6 nights from today
Please see the following announcement from the Essex Streetworks Team:
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
Temporary Traffic Regulation Order of Station Road, Felsted.
Please click on the following link https://roadworks.org?tm=113043654 to find details of the closure of Station Road, due to commence on 24th April 2019 for 6 nights.
The closure point is at the entrance to the village and will result in a diversion via Stebbing Road.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Essex County Council undertakes patching works for surfacing dressing.
Village Litter pick a success
The village litter pick held last Saturday was yet again a massive success.
It is sad that we need our volunteers, led by our Parish Clerk, Diane, to give their time to clear up the rubbish others decide to discard around our village.
However, need them we do. In just a few hours they collected 24 bags of rubbish plus a door, an 8′ long kitchen plinth and assorted pieces of broken car body panels.
Uttlesford District Council has also purchased 5 new vehicles to support two dedicated litter picking teams, who will operate throughout the District where there are trouble spots.
If you see people dumping litter, or fly tipping, please let us know, with as many details as it is safe to take. It is wrong that we should need volunteers to pick up rubbish, and even worse that our Council Tax should be needed to buy extra vehicles to clean up our villages after people who simply don’t care.
