Suspicious Activity Update

In December, following concerns expressed by a number of parishioners (directly and on local social media) the Parish Council posted an article and a picture entitled “Suspicious Activity in Felsted”.  The article sought to allay parishioner’s concerns by identifying two individuals.

The Council is pleased to have established the identity of the individuals and is happy to confirm that their actions were at all times entirely innocent and the reported concerns were misplaced and unnecessary.

The Council is extremely grateful to those concerned in coming forward and regret any distress which may have been unintentionally caused.

The Council is pleased to publish this explanation of the Council’s actions.

Digigo Bus Fares capped at £2

We’re pleased to advise that all single DigiGo fares will be capped at just £2 from 1 January until 31 March 2023! Making it even cheaper for residents to access social, work, health or school opportunities.

This is because DigiGo is taking part in the government’s Bus Fare Cap Grant (BFCG).  Customers can book their reduce price journeys via the TravelEssex app as normal, where vehicles can be tracked in real time prior to and during the journey.

At a time when people are worried about the rising cost of living, the £2 bus fare cap can save customers up to 75% off the usual fares until 31 March 2023.  For an existing customer who takes 5 trips a week, they could save up to £120 a month compared to normal.

For more information about DigiGo, visit their website.

Unsure what DigiGo is?  DigiGo is an electric shared public transport service which offers on-demand or pre-bookable travel in parts of Essex. There is no fixed route or timetable, which puts customers in control of their journeys.

Important changes to festive bin collections

Uttlesford District Council is advising residents of some important changes to the bin collection schedule over the festive season.

Collections will take place as normal in the week leading up to Christmas. This will be a green-lidded recycling bin collection week.

However, there will be no bin collections made the following week (beginning 26 December).

Collections will then resume from 2 January 2023. This will be for the grey-lidded general waste bin and food caddy. Extra black bags can be placed at the side of your bin for collection for this week only.

The following week (commencing 9 January) will be a green-lidded recycling bin collection week. Extra recycling can be placed at the side of your bin for collection as usual. Please put items in white or clear bags – no black bin liners.

Residents can stay up to date with recycling and bin collection news by subscribing to receive the e-newsletter – sign up at www.uttlesford.gov.uk/keep-me-posted – or by following the council on Facebook or Twitter (search @UttlesfordDC).
